The 1U Twin reduces cost by providing higher power efficiency. The placement of two nodes in 1U also reduces your chassis, power supply, and rack cost. In addition, the reduction in chassis investment also reduces the need for power cables and power strips. This provides simplified cabling, better air flow, and easier maintenance. The 1U Twin’s layout and chassis design provides 2 Nodes in 1U and up to 84 nodes in a 42U standard rack, which significantly reduces IT space rental costs. For double the connectivity, each node also supports dual Gigabit ethernet and on-board Infiniband.

Supermicro Intelligent Management
IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a hardware-level interface specification that defines a common, abstract message-based interface to platform monitoring and control functions. Providing peace of mind to customers, SIM (Supermicro Intelligent Management) module implements IPMI 2.0 technology to provide remote access, monitoring and administration for Supermicro server platforms. With SIM, server administrators can view a server's hardware status remotely, receive an alarm automatically if a failure occurs, and power cycle a system that is non-responsive.
