As a leading Supermicro supplier, Thinkmate offers a wide selection of Supermicro Twin Server solutions. Twin Servers offer higher compute and storage densities than traditional rack solutions. They are designed to have at least double the number of server nodes in the same footprint as traditional rack servers. For example, a Supermicro 1U or 2U Twin has two server nodes vs one node in a traditional 1U or 2U rack server. Supermicro also offers a system that increases node density even further: the Supermicro 2U Twin2®.
Although the two server node Twin Server architecture may provide sufficient computational and storage resources for many high performance applications, other more demanding applications in areas like analytics and engineering may require even more resources. The Supermicro Twin2 architecture is an ideal solution for these computationally intensive applications.
Supermicro Twin2 implements four server computer nodes in a 2U chassis with shared redundant power supply units. Each server node is hot-swappable as are the high efficiency power supply units. Each node contains two multi-core CPUs, up to 512GB of memory, and up to six hot-swappable SAS/SATA drives. In one complete Twin2 chassis, a total of eight CPUs, 2TB of memory, and twenty-four SAS/SATA drives can be configured.
Both Intel® Xeon® and AMD Opteron™ CPUs can be configured for a Twin2 server. Drive interfaces supported are SAS-3 12Gb/s, SAS-2 6Gb/s, and SATA 6Gb/s. Network connectivity options include 40/56-Gigabit ethernet, 40-Gigabit QDR InfiniBand, and 56-Gigabit FDR InfiniBand. Operating systems that can be pre-loaded include popular Linux server systems like CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, and Red Hat®, and non Linux operating systems like Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.
