Storage Interfaces

SAS | Fibre | iSCSI | Parallel SCSI

Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)

SAS is Serial Attached SCSI. It is a serial replacement technology for parallel SCSI which has reached the end of its technology roadmap with Ultra 320MB SCSI. SAS will strive to compete with the Fibre Channel interface at the high-end of the market.

Fibre Channel

Fibre channel's flexible, mature technology and wide interoperability makes it the first choice for mission critical applications. Two 4Gb Fibre Channel SAN host interface ports per controller provide a reliable, high-performance SAN based storage.

iSCSI

iSCSI, or internet SCSI, is an IETF standard which maps SCSI blocks into Ethernet packets. Fundamentally, the iSCSI protocol is a method for transporting low latency SCSI blocks across IP networks. Learn more about iSCSI.

Parallel SCSI

SCSI (pronounced “scuzzy”) stands for Small Computer System Interface, the technology that allows you to connect your external storage system to your server. Your server requires a SCSI card and proper termination.
